Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are located approximately 1 hour away from each other if travelling by road, although of course this may vary depending on traffic, etc. Heathrow Airport is to the west of London whereas Gatwick Airport is to the south of London.
It is often the case that passengers arriving at Heathrow will need to transfer to Gatwick to catch a connecting flight or vice versa, or that travellers will leave their car parked at Gatwick Airport but fly back into Heathrow Airport. They will then need to get back to Gatwick in order to collect their car.
Whatever the reason, there are a number of options available to transfer between the two airports.
One popular option is the National Express coach link between the airports. Approximately 100 services per day are in operation between Heathrow and Gatwick.
Other popular transfer methods are:
- Taxi
- Train (through central London)
- Hire Car (pick up at one airport and drop off at another)
